A team that invents products
After sharing the origin story of the KRUG idea and insights into its development, we'd like to take a step back – and show who is behind Urmacher and why our products are created the way they are. Because KRUG is no accident and not a one-off project, but the result of a mindset that unites our entire team.

In-house as a basic principle
Our team has successfully completed many projects, both our own and joint ventures, over the years – mostly on a service provider basis, but nonetheless with considerable success. International awards in product design speak for themselves, as does our extensive experience in construction, mechanics, and manufacturing. But at some point, there always came a time when the results of our work had to be passed on – handed over.
When you are so enthusiastic about an idea, pursue it through many stages, designs and prototypes, simulations and calculations, and see how something new slowly but surely emerges – it is understandably very difficult to let go!
The eventual producer makes their own decisions, decides on changes, or in extreme cases may even lose all faith in the new product!
The motivation behind Urmacher couldn't be simpler: We wanted to bring our ideas and concepts to life ourselves, without external influence! We wanted to independently control and consciously shape every step, from the initial sketch, through materials and production, to the successful product launch. The necessary team of product developers, designers, engineers, model makers, machining technicians, and marketing and advertising specialists already knew each other from many collaborative projects – and yet, the obvious step of creating our own brand was the ultimate challenge.
Many products are well-designed – but only a few are truly innovative.
At Urmacher, products aren't created simply to fill a gap in the product range. New ideas usually require two disciplines that ideally complement each other, yet are rarely consistently combined: design and engineering. In our view, inspiring design and innovative function belong together in a successful product like yin and yang!
Therefore, we adhere strictly to this principle of harmony in all aspects of our work. "Form follows function" and "think outside the box" have helped us overcome more obstacles and dead ends in product development than any textbook in the world could have!
Ultimately, we have products that all share one thing in common: that certain "twist" or "something special"—like a completely new and surprising function or a clever solution to an everyday problem. That's what sets Urmacher apart, and that's what we all enjoy.

Watchmakers?
Our brand name, fittingly for our products, carries a much deeper history than it first appears. Of course, this isn't about the time-honored craft of watchmaking!
The name "Urmach" actually refers to a very small village in the heart of Bavaria, whose seclusion has repeatedly provided us with the necessary peace, valuable distance, and undivided attention for our innovative designs. Further exploration of the name's origin reveals that "Urmach" has a much deeper and very fitting meaning: the word derives from the phrase "to cultivate" or "to make arable"—and what could better describe our mission than to make pure ideas and concepts "arable," or usable, through our work?
With this background, it is a matter of course for us to develop our products down to the last detail with a great focus on resource utilization, recycling and of course “Made in Germany”, and to spare no effort to create the necessary solutions locally.

KRUG as a starting point
KRUG is Urmacher's first in-house product. It exemplifies our way of thinking: An everyday action was questioned, a new function developed and consistently implemented – right down to the material, manufacturing and recyclability.
KRUG is not an outlier, but rather the beginning.
Further products are already under development. Different in form and application, but united by the same principle: new ideas, clearly conceived, precisely implemented.
